OrcaFlex examples

Below is a list of links to OrcaFlex example topics. Within each topic are a number of examples which each comprise one or more simulation files, a description pdf file, workspace files and sometimes other supporting files. The files for each example are zipped for easy download. The simulation files can be opened and viewed with the demonstration version of OrcaFlex.

Z02 Line on line slide

In this example, we introduce OrcaDog, our adventurous office canine. The line contact and line clashing routines are both used in this fun example to model OrcaDog sliding down a zip wire. Line contact is used to model the block sliding down the wire, while line clashing is used to model a brake line, which prevents OrcaDog from coming to any harm.

Z09 Vessel time history

A vessel’s primary motion and/or superimposed motion, can be prescribed in OrcaFlex by providing a tab-delimited text file containing the time history motion data you want to specify. This example model contains a shiver of six sharks circling the model’s global origin. In addition, the sharks are oscillating, menacingly, in the pitch degree of freedom.
