Orcy
Yvonne Morgan, Commercial & Licensing

Yvonne Morgan

Commercial & Licensing

ROLE

Yvonne is the contact for all commercial aspects of software supply and licensing, including software quotes, maintenance renewal, and the management of OrcaFlex licenses. She is also responsible for the co-ordination of Orcina’s marketing activities worldwide such as the annual User Group Meetings and various exhibitions.

BIO

Yvonne has an honours degree in Marketing and Modern Languages from Aston University and has been at Orcina since 2005.

Heather Winterbottom, Finance Manager

Heather Winterbottom

Finance Manager

ROLE

Heather is responsible for all aspects of company financial matters regarding invoicing, purchasing, credit control, foreign exchange and all accountancy requirements.

BIO

Heather has a degree level qualification in Management from Lancaster University, and was in Accountancy practice for 15 years prior to joining Orcina. She qualified as a full member of the Association of Accounting Technicians in 2000 (MAAT).

David Heffernan, Managing Director

David Heffernan

Managing Director & Head of Software Development

ROLE

David joined Orcina after graduating in 1995, as a junior software developer. He is now the managing director, as well as heading the software development group. In addition to his management roles, David is actively involved in development of the software.

BIO

David has an honours degree in Pure Mathematics from Sheffield University and a PhD in Pure Mathematics from Lancaster University.

Sarah Ellwood, Consultancy Director

Sarah Ellwood

Director, Consultancy

ROLE

Sarah is on the board of directors and leads the Consultancy team. She joined the company in 2002, initially working on external consultancy projects. She later moved into client technical support and training, something which she continues to do today.

BIO

Sarah has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and a PhD in the field of fluid dynamics from the University of Liverpool.

Colin Lewis, Senior Developer

ROLE

Colin is in the software development team, playing a key role in the ongoing development of OrcaFlex. Having worked in consultancy when he first joined the company, Colin also has a good understanding of our customers.

BIO

Colin joined Orcina in 2006 after graduating from the University of York with a masters degree in Mathematics with modern applications. Colin’s first degree was a BSc in Theoretical Physics, so Orcina have had to teach him all the engineering that he knows.

Duncan Roy, Senior Consultant

Duncan Roy

ROLE

Duncan has been part of the consultancy team at Orcina since 2014. As well as providing training and support to users of Orcina software products, he is also responsible for the coordination of training and consultancy projects, and the management of Orcina’s social media presence and brand development.

BIO

Duncan has an honours degree in Product Design Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has worked in the energy industry since graduating in 1998.

Graham Christian, IT Manager

ROLE

Graham is responsible for our company IT infrastructure, including ongoing hardware and software maintenance, and ensuring that systems continue to meet business needs. He is also actively involved in software development, taking a lead role in the support of Distributed OrcaFlex.

BIO

Graham has a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham and an MSc in Computer Science from Birkbeck College. He has been involved in software development at Orcina since 2005!

Ian Dooley, Senior Consultant

Ian Dooley

Senior Consultant

ROLE

Ian is in the consultancy team, and as such gets involved in a wide range of activities, including customer support, marketing and consultancy projects. He plays a key role in monitoring and responding to the support enquiries which come in from OrcaFlex users around the world on a daily basis.

BIO

Ian has an honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Limerick and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has worked in both aerospace and Formula 1 for 10 years prior to joining Orcina in 2013.

James Pell, Senior Developer

James Pell

Senior Developer

ROLE

James joined Orcina in 2012 and has played a key role in the development of features such as frequency domain and wind turbines. He regularly spends time engaging with customers through involvement in our annual user group meetings, which helps him to develop the software with user needs in mind.

BIO

James previously worked for an offshore consultancy using OrcaFlex on a daily basis, and has an honours degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Bristol.

Alan Ross, Senior Consultant

ROLE

Alan has been part of the consultancy team since 2018, providing support and training to users of OrcaFlex worldwide.

Prior to joining Orcina, Alan spent 8 years working for an offshore installation contractor where he used OrcaFlex on a daily basis!

BIO

Alan has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and a masters degree in Subsea Engineering, both from the University of Aberdeen. He is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Company mascot

ROLE

OrcaDog is one of the most popular members of the team and is regularly found demonstrating new OrcaFlex features to users all over the world!

BIO

OrcaDog has been employed by the company for over 10 years, and his sporting interests range from kayaking to abseiling to tobogganing. He loves to find new and inventive ways to demonstrate the latest OrcaFlex features!
