Software training

Orcina have for a long time run software training courses for our clients either at their offices or at our own offices. These training courses are now also offered online, and the content and duration can be tailored to suit client requirements. Dates are arranged on an ad-hoc basis to suit. We periodically run open training courses for OrcaFlex which are on fixed dates throughout the year and are open to any interested parties. These courses are aimed at beginner / intermediate level and are intended to give a general introduction to the software. As an alternative to the open training course, we have a series of videos that follow a similar syllabus. Please note that these videos are under construction, so the full set is not yet available.

These are on fixed dates throughout the year and are open to any interested parties. These courses assume some experience of using OrcaFlex for other applications, but no experience of the OrcaFlex turbine object is required. This introductory workshop is devoted entirely to the Python interface to OrcaFlex. It is an advanced topic that cannot reasonably be covered in our Open Training course. The workshop covers the following broad topics, and more details can be found by downloading the syllabus:

• overview of OrcaFlex automation facilities
• post-processing OrcaFlex analyses using Python
• pre-processing OrcaFlex analyses using Python

The workshop is hands-on and example based. Attendees write Python code and pre- and post-process OrcaFlex analyses. If time permits, towards the end of the second session, we may be able to cover some participant suggested applications in more detail.
