OrcaFlex User Group 2010We finally finished our 2010 round of User Groups, having returned to Houston, Perth, Kuala Lumpur, Aberdeen, Stavanger, Paris and Rio. Thank you all for coming - it was great to see lots of familiar faces and to match faces to some we've known only as names! (The presentations and models can be downloaded using the links below.) This year we had approximately 220 attendees – we hope you found the day useful. Many thanks for your feedback on the UGM and OrcaFlex, your thoughts and ideas are always welcome (at any time!) and always noted. These have been added to our development list; Up-to-date plans for OrcaFlex can be found on the OrcaFlex Support page. The presentation explaining the recent developments in OrcaFlex and future development was well received. As with previous years, most of the new features were a direct result of requests from the previous user group sessions. We hope you find the new features useful. The Vessels presentation covered several areas where we frequently see support questions. We have therefore presented a review of the vessel data and functionality. We also showed the improved data import from a range of diffraction analysis packages. Extreme value statistics gave an overview not only of the new results output but also provided guidance in understanding how to use them and how they perform in a typical analysis situation. The presentation on Stress discusses how to obtain stress results for a range of structures from homogenous SCRs to composite Umbilicals. It also explains the linear and non-linear facilities. The Worked Examples are based on support requests and walk you through some common systems. This proved very popular with many attendees contacting us for more details. The guest speakers, all OrcaFlex users, were well received. Thank you to our nine guest speakers who took time out of their busy schedules to prepare and present, I hope you enjoyed the experience: Amal Phadke (ConocoPhillips), Tim Le Souëf (Peritus), Pieter Dierx (SBM), Subhajit Lahiri (Technip), Stefan Schlömilch & Martin Nore (Aker Solutions), Jelte Kymmell (KCI), Marcos Cueva & Daniel Cueva (Oceanica). Finally, we shall continue to hold these meetings annually and planning is already underway for 2011. The main user group meeting page will be updated with information shortly. We look forward to meeting you there. 2010 User Group Meeting PresentationsThe individual presentations (including associated data and simulation files) can be downloaded using the links below:
