OrcaFlex User Group 2004

After the success of the 2003 OrcaFlex User Group Meetings we decided to add an extra venue, Stavanger in Norway. Comments from our northern European clients appear to show that a more local venue was appreciated. We plan to visit Stavanger and Paris in alternate years.

The feedback this year exceeded, in volume, that for the previous year. We have finally collated all the written and verbal feedback. Your thoughts and ideas are always welcome (at any time!) and always noted. The comments have been most interesting and will help us to improve future meetings.

We changed the format slightly in light of comments from the previous year by removing the formal question and answer session and instead providing more time for informal discussion. The attendees kept us very busy and we have full notebooks to prove it! We also made the talks towards the end of the day lighter and a bit more fun. We didn't want to tire people out too much. The feedback in brief:

Attendees still found the day very informative and useful. The presentation explaining the recent developments in OrcaFlex was again well received. Many of the requests from the previous year had been implemented including a big expansion of the automation facilities.
Of the technical presentations, the one on compressive waves generated plenty of discussion at all venues. The speed-up and hits and tips were appreciated by the less experienced users and even taught some of the more experienced users new tricks.
The presentations on fatigue and buoys indicated a demand for more specialist training courses. Accordingly we will be holding Advanced Training courses throughout 2005.
A repeated request has been for presentations from other users on OrcaFlex. If any of you would like to discuss presenting at the 2005 meetings then please contact us.

We have gathered together a large list of future software development requests. Many of these have already been acted on and will be released in version 8.6 early in 2005. Others will appear in future releases of the software. More information about updates to OrcaFlex can be found in the OrcaFlex Support area of the site.

We will be holding another series of User Group Meetings in the autumn of 2005 and details of these meetings will be posted on the main user group meeting page later in the year.
