License deactivation |
Active licenses may be deactivated by first selecting the correct list item and then clicking the
button on the toolbar or using the DELETE key shortcut
If the selected item has more than one license, this will open the Deactivate licenses dialog and allow you to enter the number of licenses to deactivate; if it has only one license (which is always the case for local activations), you will simply be prompted to confirm the deactivation. In either case, when you press OK OrcaLicense will contact the central Flexera database server to confirm the license deactivation and remove the information from your machine's trusted storage.
The online deactivation process requires internet communication with https://flex1677-fno.flexnetoperations.com/flexnet/services/ActivationService over the https port, 443. Note that this communication is only required during activation and deactivation.
OrcaLicense will then show you the licenses, if any, which still remain on that machine.
Possible reasons for wishing to deactivate a license or licenses include:
There is no limit to the number of times you can deactivate / reactivate a license on different machines. For example, if you have a local license you can choose to move it between different users working in different locations in this way.
If you are upgrading or renewing your FlexNet licenses from an earlier version, you do not need to deactivate your old licenses first: the activation procedure with the new licenses will automatically deactivate the old ones and remove them from your machine.
Unless OrcaLicense is temporarily unable to contact the Flexera server for some reason, we would not expect to see any error message on deactivating licenses. However, if you are unable to do so, and/or you receive an error message you need help with, please see the troubleshooting topic in the first instance. If this doesn't help you to resolve your problem, please contact Orcina for support, with a copy of the message and any diagnostic information available.
