Rope/wire: Mass per unit length

The line type wizard sets up mass for a rope/wire based on manufacturers catalogue data.

Nominal rope diameter and nominal mass are available from catalogue data for a variety of rope constructions. A simple statistical analysis of these leads to the following expressions for the mass per unit length, $m$ \begin{equation} m = \begin{cases} 0.6476 d^2 \text{ te/m} & \text{for nylon ropes}\\ 0.7978 d^2 \text{ te/m} & \text{for polyester ropes}\\ 0.4526 d^2 \text{ te/m} & \text{for polypropylene ropes}\\ 3.6109 d^2 \text{ te/m} & \text{for wire ropes with fibre core}\\ 3.9897 d^2 \text{ te/m} & \text{for wire ropes with wire core} \end{cases} \end{equation}
