Moving
Moving around in a 3D view can be achieved by a variety of means:
- drag the 3D view with the SHIFT key held down. We call this direct manipulation of the view centre panning.
- use the scroll bars on the 3D view
- use the cursor keys ↑ ↓ ← →. Hold the CTRL key down for larger shifts.
- move up and down with the PGUP and PGDN keys
- edit the view centre in the view parameters form
Rotating
Rotating, similarly, can be done in a number of ways:
Zooming
You can zoom into and out of 3D views with the zoom button , the zoom menu items, the shortcut keys CTRL+I and SHIFT+CTRL+I, or the mouse wheel with the CTRL key held down.
In wire frame 3D views, you can also zoom by the following means:
- To zoom in, define a rectangle around the area of interest on-screen using the mouse, by dragging with the ALT key down. When you release the mouse button, the region selected will be expanded to fill the window.
- To zoom out, define a rectangle by dragging with both the SHIFT and ALT keys down. The region shown in the whole window will shrink to fit into the rectangle drawn.
- To zoom in and out by a fixed amount, keeping the same view centre, use ALT+click and ALT+SHIFT+click.
