Line statics: User specified starting shape

Warning: We no longer recommend user specified starting shape because there are now more efficient and effective ways of solving problems that would previously have been solved with this method. For many of the use cases where user specified starting shape would once have been applicable, restart analyses should now be preferred.

The user specified starting shape statics method involves no calculation. Instead, you specify the node positions and, if torsion is included, their orientations, directly.

This method allows you to start calculations using line configurations that have already been calculated. The starting shape data can be set from the configuration of a completed calculation by using the Model | Use specified starting shape for lines menu item.

In order to use the user specified starting shape statics configuration directly in a subsequent dynamic analysis, you also need to suppress the other parts of the static analysis by disabling step 2 line statics and whole system statics.
