Windows Vista CompatibilityOverviewIf you wish to install and run Orcina software on a machine running Windows Vista, the following information may be helpful. Older versions of Orcina software might not install in the usual way, and you may need to apply some updates after installation in order to use all the program facilities. Note that OrcaFlex 9.1 is fully compatible with Vista and so none of these updates are required. InstallationOlder versions of Orcina software do not install as smoothly on Vista as they do on other versions of Windows. To install your Orcina software from CD, please browse the CD and run the Setup.exe program. Windows may prompt you for confirmation a number of times before performing the installation. At the end of the installation, you will receive a message to the effect that the dongle device driver has failed to install. Note that this message might be hidden behind the installer progress window but it will be visible on the task bar. If you do need to install the dongle driver, please see below. HelpOlder versions of Orcina software rely on Windows Help to show their help topics, but the traditional Windows Help program is no longer included with Vista. To view these help files under Vista you will need to download and install the Windows Help program from the Microsoft Download Center. Dongle Device DriverThe HASP dongle device driver distributed with older Orcina applications is not compatible with Vista. If you use a dongle over a network, and the dongle server machine does not run Vista, then this is not an issue. If you wish to use a dongle on a machine running Vista, then you will need to download and install the latest device driver from Aladdin's web site. |
