Topic outlines

What's New: Introduces the new features of version 9.2 and plans for future OrcaFlex development.

Fatigue Analysis: Essential in most analyses, OrcaFlex has a wealth of features making it as straightforward as possible. The talk is based around a case study fatigue analysis of a deepwater SCR. Issues considered include: comparison of regular and rainflow analysis, wave scatter conversion and runtimes.

Statics: Here we outline some theory with examples covering seabed friction, prescribed shapes, damping, etc.

Pipelay: OrcaFlex is well suited to this application. We demonstrate this with fixed, hinged and flexible stinger models.

Responding to feedback from previous UGMs, we include some longer worked examples. These include: passive and active heave compensation, spoolpiece manoeuvring, sparbuoy short wavelength issue, etc (as time permits).

Guest Speakers:

  • Paris: Simon Lorelli (Saipem): Pipelay Initiation Analysis
  • Houston: Paul Jacob (MMI): SCR Analysis
  • Perth: Jørgen Reine (Subsea7): Comparison of Installation Analysis with Operation
  • Kuala Lumpur: Faisal Hijazi (Prosafe): Comparison of OrcaFlex with Model Tests
  • Stavanger: TBA (Technip): Riser Installation or Riser Repair Analysis
  • Rio: TBA
  • Aberdeen: Eldho Paul (Subsea7): Modelling of the Subsea Depressor System
